You're in Their World Now
Most people come to Kodiak for the fishing. Most people leave talking about the wildlife.
Kodiak Island is home to the Kodiak Brown Bear β the largest land predator on earth β along with Sitka Black-tailed Deer, Sea Otters, Harbor Seals, Bald Eagles, Stellar Sea Lions, Humpback and Orca Whales, Dall's Porpoise, and more species of seabirds than most people have ever seen in one place. Foxes move along the shoreline at dusk. Wild horses graze the hillsides above the rivers. Harbor seals congregate on the shores of a small island hosting a seabird rookery. Bald eagles sit in the spruce like they own the place β because they do.
You don't have to go looking for wildlife here. You just have to pay attention.
Every day on the water is a wildlife day at Kodiak Wilderness Lodge. Whether you're trolling for King Salmon and a humpback surfaces twenty yards off the bow, or you round a bend in the river and lock eyes with a bear on the opposite bank, the wilderness here has a way of showing up when you least expect it and taking your breath clean away.
This is not a zoo. This is not a tour. This is Alaska β and everything out here is wild.
Come ready to be humbled.
